Open.
Ruskin is standing outside of the APW arena in Reno. Wearing a leather-jacket, he leans up against the double-doors of the building that's no longer full of people after various activities that might have gone on today for local people who just wanted to have some fun. The only people who wander inside are the janitors, walking up and down the hallways with their mops, cleaning up the floors to wipe away the dust and dirt tracked in by the people's shoes. The arena is being cleaned the best because in just a couple of days, APW's going to hold their first-ever Pay Per View in history. Many big matches are going to take place, one of which was supposed to happen a few months ago. The British Wrestling Alliance championship is going to be put on the line in the main-event with James Tsunami versus Johnny Legend with Ruskin randomly thrown into the mix by the council, officially turning this into a triple-threat match. It's obvious that James isn't happy with him being put into the mix since he never won the contendership in any sort of way, but what can he do? All that he really can do is wrestle and hopefully win.
"So I guess that I'm going to take a page from Chris Tougher's book and actually promo without a layout, but it won't be filled with so much out of character shit to fluff it up because I think it's about time I drift away from that. After all, I'm starting a new leaf, and it's time for me to actually take this business serious for once because you all know that in my four years of wrestling on the wrestling circuit, I haven't taken a damn thing seriously. I took it all as fun and games. The fun and games are over, all that stand-up written on paper has been torn apart by a paper-shredder... now with a blank page in front of me, it's time to start anew and give myself a new image, a make sure that the Feature Presentation gives people a new impression on what he is about."
For a couple of weeks, the Feature Presentation has been keen on developing himself a new image to the backstage wrestlers in any sort of way. He's wanting to take the wrestling industry more seriously and show more interest, focus a little more and throw away his addicting habits. He's overcome his demons and his condition has greatly improved. His name-change is apparently supposed to be the start of a new chapter in his career and he wants to build his new-self up to be a better person and a better wrestler. But he still won't mind being hated, he'll still be an asshole, but try to be more fair when it comes to matches.
"This Sunday is going to be my second title shot in the past three months on the wrestling circuit. After winning my first major wrestling championship in my career, I soon quit the federation in which I won the championship from and brought the title here to hand over to the management. Now that it's in their hands, they choose what they want to do with it. But this weekend, it's time to wrestle for a championship that I almost won several times in my illustrious career... the British Wrestling Alliance championship. My match will be against long-time wrestling foe James Tsunami, a man who has hated me for so long now that I can't remember where all of this frustration began. I do know, however, that it started back in the British Wrestling Alliance when I pissed him off somehow. Did I say the wrong thing? Do something offensive? Reach a state of achievement and glory in which he never can and will? I'm not sure, but whatever the reason, it still seems to bother him to this date. However, it seems as if he managed to let out that pent-up frustration on me a couple weeks ago on Dangerzone within that steel cage. He threw me up against that steel-mesh and made me bleed all over... cuts were created but stitches sewed them up, fixing up my wounds. They still ache, however, and I'm assuming that they will be torn back open after this Sunday night is over. But all that damage that is sustained against Tsunami will be paid for with the riches I gain after becoming the APW World champion."
The riches. It's one of the main things that a lot of wrestlers look forward to acquiring after winning a championship other than the loads of fame that they are going to get. With the bonus of surplus money given to them by the company, the wrestlers will have a lot of money to spend in the near future with their family and themselves. They'll be arriving in style at every event; they'll go to the nicest restaurants, eat the nicest meals made by the best chefs and cooks. They'll be treated with the utmost respect just like any other athlete in the sports world. Being a champion is great, but it's just a shame that Ruskin hasn't tasted food as the champion of a wrestling federation all too much. He maybe had one good meal and that was on the night he won the FWA championship. The food had flavour, but it was just a shame that being the champion of Fans Wrestling Alliance was rather bland.
"To be the APW World champion is the one thing that I want to be right now, James. I think that you would assume how much desire I have to win that championship because I've only held FWA's World title for a minimal amount of time without actually having any kind of fun with it. As soon as I brought it here, I relinquished it to the management. I had no defences with it, I had no matches where it was on the line... none of that... none at all. Your friend Benjamin Stephens, the Australian Beast, knows the desire to win a championship because like me, he never had a championship that long after he won something major the first time. You first-hand saw how focused Ben was to win the British Wrestling Alliance championship two years ago when it was first put on the line against me. Two years forward, the saga between the Feature Presentation and the Australian Beast's friends continues and the centre of all of this is around that BWA title. Is it causing more harm than good? Of course not, it's just making people realize what their priorities are and what matters most. To me, becoming a figure-head in the wrestling sport matters that most. I've had a chance in a wrestling federation, but I gave that opportunity up for happiness. Happiness took away my heroin habit, happiness put this smile back on my face and happiness brought back that desire in my wrestling career. Believe or not, the Fans Wrestling Alliance was killing the Feature Presentation. Luckily this place came around and I signed over as quick as I could, thus saving me."
The Feature Presentation flashes an innocent kind of grin, hoping that there are some people in Fans Wrestling Alliance that are getting pissed off at the comments that he has been making about them. The only person who is really listening is the Razorblade on Skin, William Rodney Mercy, and he's the only person who repeats Ruskin's words to the people backstage for them to hear.
"After all that you have done to me in the past, James, it's going to be fun getting my revenge this Sunday at Scars and Stripes by kicking your ass in that ring. You might have had your fun for the past year and a half by getting your wins over me while you could, but all of that fun is going to be washed away and washed up along with you. So what, lightning did strike twice. I was proven wrong... again... and I have nothing to say about my loss because you used what you have best and that is wrestling abilities. That loss knocked some sense into me and I've realized that you've improved a lot more. But this Sunday at Ess and Ess, there are now THREE of us in that ring and my focus won't be all on you. With Johnny Legend in that ring, I'm going to make sure that I'm able to get the win over our fellow champion and walk out with that championship for once in my life. I know that you want it bad, it's something that is easy to see, but don't you know that I have wanted it LONGER than you? Three years, James... THREE DAMN YEARS... I have been trying my best to pry that title from the champions who held it at the time. Nick Reso, Benjamin Stephens, Superstar Joe, MJ Storm... I've given it my all against them and yet I failed, James... I failed. It wasn't until after they lost the championship to somebody else that I actually beat them. It's disappointing, really. But will it happen this time? Will my luck and will my victory finally come, or will I fail at winning that title for a sixth time? Will James join the list of people who were able to win over the Feature Presentation? Will you join that elite group of your friends? Will you be among the ranks of Benjamin Stephens, Superstar Joe and MJ Storm? Perhaps you will, and you know what's weird? If you join that list of people, that would mean that all my opponents for the title would have names with the letter 'J' in them. That was just a fun fact, not that it matters or anything."
Weird, but that is kind of neat.
"The clock is ticking, the seconds are slowly depleting, but those many seconds go by faster than minutes and hours. Ever since the fall of 2004, James, I have been counting down the seconds to my victory. Three years worth of seconds later, I'm still in the same spot. Nothing has changed except for my attitude, talent and desire. All of which have grew vastly since them. My attitude is big and I'm more angry. My talent is better and I'm much better. My desire has grown and I'm more ready each and every time. This is one of those moments, James, that I just have to say that nobody can spot me. I've got that feeling inside that motivates me to do everything I can. Whether that feeling is going to do anything, we'll wait and see. You'll witness what the feeling will do for me and do to you at Ess and Ess."
Fade.
